It was an absolute privilege to work with Mike during our time at Clock. As Head of Technical Services, Mike led transformative changes to our infrastructure, bringing in virtualisation, containerisation, and cloud technologies. Mike joined the Gather Investing team to perform a modernisation of our legacy infrastructure. He migrated all of our applications and databases (running on over thirty traditional servers) to the Northflank container platform running on Google Cloud. The result has been excellent: it has removed a major maintenance overhead, and replaced it with modern infrastructure-as-code and DevOps workflows. He delivered this complex undertaking competently and efficiently, and with all the legacy servers now shut down we now have a substantial cost-saving.

Mike is conscientious and I'd trust him with my life. He has a strong moral backbone and will tell you if something isn't quite right. It's an incredibly valuable trait in a techie as they often have the power to do what they want without you knowing. So it is great to know that Mike won't let you down and can always be trusted to do the right thing.

Knowing what the next big thing is can be tricky. Mike experimented with many technologies and put them forward when the time was right. He pioneered open-source technologies before they were popular and gave our corporate clients the confidence to make the switch. When newer technologies came along he also helped us become Europes leading NodeJS development team, launching the first large-scale deployments in the corporate world. Another great decision that directly helped us win Riot Games as a client.

Mike at Alta Sierra was a recommendation from a business partner when we decided to migrate from MS to Google as a business. He immediately demonstrated his value by ensuring that he fully understood both our current IT infrastructure and our goal.
